Leadership team: right person, right seat.
I'm back with another thing I learned, and got reminded of, at a quarterly planning for a team I work with. When you have the right person in the right seat, everything else gets easier. Problems get solved, there's more cohesion, and coming to work is actually enjoyable. When you don't, it becomes abundantly clear if you know what to look for. In this one I walk through the questions I ask: Are the problems getting solved? Is the department running well? Can this person name what's broken in their area and bring ideas, or do they show up with a problem victim mentality? If it feels like pulling teeth every time your leadership team gets together, you're dealing with a structure problem (roles, responsibilities, reporting) or a wrong person in the wrong seat. Fix the structure, or have the crucial conversation.
